Press Release: Hand Arm Vibration - Controling The Risk

“Implementing the Governments new guidelines for the ‘Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005’ may seem like an expensive process until you compare it to the cost of your employees health” states Chris Simpson of Leeds City Council Parks & Countryside Service, he continued, “we have been working hard to ensure that all reasonable action is taken to reduce the risks to our staff.”

The trials and tribulations of implementing the legislation is recorded in a joint presentation delivered at HSE’s 40 th Annual Vibration Conference, 13-15th September 2005 .

Leeds City Council worked with HAVS Risk Management to monitor and control employees’ vibration exposure. They used the HAVS Manager software to simplify data collation and analysis, making it easier to interpret legislation and prove compliance. Mel Watson, Health & Safety Officer at Leeds City Council confirmed the software provided a useful tool for evaluating machine vibration, employee exposure, health screening and training requirements.
