Why Must You Act Now?

HAVS is a debilitating painful injury that cannot be cured, it is none reversible but completely preventable .

You must ACT NOW to protect yourself and your employees.

It is possible to work with vibrating equipment and still be safe from developing HAVS?

Yes, regardless of the industry you are in careful management, planning and monitoring can help control your exposure to vibration and prevent the onset of HAVS. There are some immediate simple steps you can take to help reduce your risk;

  • Make sure tools are well maintained and cutting edges are sharp.
  • Wear gloves and keep warm encouraging good blood circulation to finger-tips.
  • Take regular breaks of at least 10 minutes away from vibrating equipment.
  • Do not smoke before or during working with vibrating equipment.
  • Where possible hold equipment loosely and use different grips.
  • Provide tool support to take the weight of the tool.
  • Introduce job rotation.
  • Introduce low vibration purchasing policies.
  • Consider eliminating the task altogether.

The CRITICAL factor in the prevention of HAVS is the ability to measure and monitor individual daily/weekly exposure to vibration in specific working environments - the HAVS Manager will do that for you.
